Welcome to IHM South West Region
The South West Region of the IHM is coterminous with the South West SHA Regional area.
The re-launch of the IHM in the South West has started with the election of a new Regional Council with me, as Chair, I am the CE at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust. Jill Turner has agreed to continue as Vice-Chair. We have held two successful regional events as part of the re-launch. Firstly we held an EGM and hosted one of the six ‘Independent NHS’ workshop events on the 29th February 2008 in Tiverton and secondly we held a two day Regional Conference with AGM and Annual Dinner on 1st and 2nd May 2008 in Taunton. Conference topics were World Class Commissioning and Career development and organisational leadership for world class commissioning - see separate reports and presentations.
The Regional Council aims to promote the interests and provide support to its members in the South West. It consists of a diversified group of professionals from NHS including general practice, the independent sector and the armed services and plans to meet four times a year. A programme of events to provide local educational events and networking opportunities is now under development by the Regional Council and it is hoped that the programme will be published in July 2008. In addition we have support of a business manager and an education consultant funded by HQ IHM.
In the longer term we are particularly interested in re-establishing a number of management clubs at key localities in the South West.
