I don’t have any formal qualifications but have worked in healthcare management for a number of years; how do I demonstrate my experiential learning?
If an applicant does not hold a formal qualification we would ask them to include a short CV with their application. They can also include further information on the level of work and the CPD have undertaken over the last few years as evidence of experiential learning, before we can confirm you as a full member. The dimensions of the IHM Competence Framework (downloadable from http://www.ihm.org.uk/professional-development-learning/cpd, or we can send you a copy) can be used to structure this additional evidence.
I am a member of another professional body and took exams to qualify for membership. Do these count towards membership of the IHM?
Yes. Please include the name of the organisation on your application.
I used to be a member of the Institute but let my membership lapse. How do I rejoin?
As a lapsed member of the Institute we would ask you complete a new application form. This is obviously not a new application but it is the most convenient way for us to collect up to date information on a returning member. The application form also contains a Direct Debit mandate should you wish to pay your subscription by this method.
Can I submit my completed application form electronically?
We can only accept a completed application form electronically if you wish to pay by credit card. If you wish to pay by Direct Debit we are currently required by our bank to submit an original signature and cannot therefore accept a faxed, photocopied or scanned version.
Is my membership subscription tax deductible?
Yes. 100% of your subscription has been approved as a deduction for tax purposes. To request the relevant form (P358) call 08459 000 404 quoting T1644/08/2000.
I've lost my diploma/certificate confirming an IHM qualification. Can I get a replacement?
IHM does not issue replacement certificates under any circumstances.
We do however hold records of students and their marks going back several decades, and can supply copies of syllabi and write to confirm an award was made at a particular time; this process normally takes 3-4 weeks.
Please put your enquiry in writing to us (at either education@ihm.org.uk or Education Department, IHM, 18-21 Morley Street, London SE1 7QZ) stating the following information:
- your name
- current postal address any previous name you might have used at the time of studying
- the qualification
- your date of birth
- the years you studied your course.
