The board of the Institute of Healthcare Management (IHM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Pam Dyson as the new Chair of the IHM.

The IHM is the UK’s leading professional organisation for managers throughout healthcare, including: the NHS, independent providers; healthcare consultants and the Armed Forces.

Pam has been a member of the IHM since 1988 and worked in the health sector for 28 years, at local, regional and national level.

In 2002 she became the National Head of Finance Staff Development (FSD) with the overall strategic responsibility for the professional learning and development of NHS finance staff across England – approximately 17000 people.

During her time as the National Head of FSD, Pam was required to have close relationships with all the professional accounting bodies.  One of her key achievements was to support the finance function in the implementation of the new national pay system, “Agenda for Change”; a system based on Learning and Development milestones.

Pam has extensive experience of being an active member in a number of professional bodies and has built a high personal profile across many networks and professional organisations.

As well as IHM membership, Pam is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a member of CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants), a Chartered Manager, Fellow member of and Ambassador for the CMI (Chartered Management Institute) and a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

In addition, Pam is a Council member and currently President of the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) the UK’s leading professional membership body for accounting staff.

Pam Dyson said “I am pleased and honoured to be appointed to this exciting and challenging role. I look forward to working with IHM members, staff and stakeholders to develop and grow the influence and relevance of IHM membership.”

Speaking of her appointment, IHM Chief Executive Sue Hodgetts said: “I am delighted to be able to introduce Pam as our new Chair and very much look forward to working with her over the next two years.
