Vocational Training Scheme

Update

The VTS Pilot was endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners and evaluated by Professor Mike Pringle FRCGP of Nottingham University.  Programmes based upon the pilot with additional educational content from NES are currently running in Scotland and being assessed by IHM. 
 

Accreditation

Accreditation for the VTS programme will be considered by Middlesex University in July and an initial draft of the revised scheme has been looked at favourably by them.

IHM has also attracted further funding from WiPP to assist in the promotion of the scheme throughout England and more details of promotional events and publicity will follow.

The revised programme will hold onto much that was good and well evaluated in the pilot schemes, however in order to run this commercially and provide academic credit certain change  have been put in place to both strengthen the programme and ensure its viability.

The intention is to run the programme at undergraduate and post graduate levels to ensure that all prospective candidates can be accomodated.

In addition each stream will undertake three modules each of which will be assessed.

These are likely to be:

Development of a professional portfolio

A module on managing in the context of General Practice or Enterprise management

A module on improving General Practice services

As we progress through the accreditation process we will post new and further aspects of the programme.
